The main road in front of Wat Arun is Arun Amarin Road where you can find many local yummy food outlets be it proper airconditioned restaurants or simply open air roadside stalls.
One must visit Khao Muu Tod (deep fried pork with rice). At 20 Baht per dish, you can choose either original deep fried pork, or deep fried pork with Kra Prao (Basil) chilli sauce, with or without additional fried eggs.
Right opposite side of the road, is the airconditioned Green Leaves, highly recommended authentic Thai restaurant that is chosen for special occasion lunches or dining among government officials, friends and families.
On the same side of the road, walking a bit further at the corner of soi Taweetapisek School, stands an R9 old wooden one story building selling beef and pork noodles by day and Thai a la carte menus by night. Expect standing queue at lunch hour but you will find the food worth the waiting.
After meals, Priscilla homemade ice cream is a must, just a short walk down the road and a short turn into a little alleyway well sign posted. Their fruit ingredients come right from their own orchard in the country side for their unique ice cream flavors you won’t find anywhere else.
